Grill Dome Rapid-Lite 600-Watt Electric Charcoal Lighter

A wonderful alternative to lighter fluid or charcoal chimneys, this Rapid-Lite electric charcoal starter by Grill Dome features a double-loop U-shaped stainless-steel element that quickly and effectively gets charcoal burning.

Enjoy summertime grilling–fresh veggies from the garden, burgers, shishkabobs, and more–without frustrating false-starts of typically unreliable charcoal-starting methods. The Rapid-Lite electric charcoal starter lights the coals in less than eight minutes, which means a hot charcoal grill can be ready in about a half hour. Can you smell the nostalgia?

Quick, Easy Starts

To use, simply spread a layer of charcoal in the charcoal pan of your grill, lay the charcoal starter’s stainless-steel element on top of that, then add another layer of charcoal on top of the element. Plug the 600-watt unit into a 120-volt outlet, and wait a few minutes. After eight minutes (max), remove the charcoal starter from the hot briquettes using its 12-inch-long, stay-cool handle. The device creates a solid start, and you’ll soon have a completely lit pan of charcoal that’s ashed over and ready for grilling.

  1. Best lighter for your Big Green Egg I purchased this on the recommendation of both my brother-in-law and father, who also have Big Green Egg grills. I’ve used a “Looftlighter” for the past two years, and was tired over having to stand over the charcoal holding the tool and waiting several minutes to get a good flame going and smelling like smoke. With the Rapidlight, you simply insert it down into the coals, plug the appliance in and walk away for 5-8 minutes. Come back and your fire is going!! I highly recommend this…

  2. Product works great, heats very quickly and does the job in … I bought this product to light lump charcoal in a green egg. Product works great, heats very quickly and does the job in less then 8 minutes. I spent the extra money on this brand due to the 5′ cord length & high watt output. The design fits perfectly in green egg style smokers and the handle stay away from the heat. I saw some reviews and there concern with the placement of the starter, once the charcoal is lite. I put mine inside a Weber kettle BBQ that I have near by and put the lid over…

  3. Stop Looking, you’ve found what you’re looking for… I cook on the Big Green Egg and this is my third Charcoal lighter. I’ve purchased the Big Green Egg licensed lighter (C+), one other paddle-shaped lighter (D-) and this one, the Grill Dome Rapid-Lite. This one sites perfectly on the Egg floor and I position charcoal above and below prior to plugging in. I go about my business for 5-10 minutes and come back to a wonderful glowing coal bed and this lighter lifts out nicely without having a hot/melted handle because of its angle (The paddle…
