It turns on with a flick of the probe, and there are no annoying modes or buttons to mess with – open probe, stick in food, get temperature. The probe has a nice taper at the tip that tends to push meat fibers out of the way rather than cutting them, so provided you are strategic with your sampling location the holes can barely be seen on the final product even if you are…

  3. The construction, while simple, is very durable. The accuracy test in boiling and ice water were spot on. It shuts off automatically by closing the wand, and it shuts off after a minute or so if the wand is left open. Battery life is quite good because of this. The batteries are easy to find and replace.
