  1. Undesignated use for Big Green Egg Repair After reading numerous reviews on several Big Green Egg Blogs, I knew this was the solution to the felt seal issue. Use the Rutland gasket and “Permatex High-temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket Maker” (available at any Autozone stores). I do not recommend using the adhesive that comes in this kit because it does not support the higher temperures the BGE is capable of. The gasket is what you want and well worth the money.   2. This is NOT a rope style gasket alternative, it is too thin. The key word used here to describe this product that the buyer needs to be aware of is “gasket kit TAPE”. This product, while being 5/8″ wide as advertised is only 3/16″ thick, thus the term TAPE is used. Other common stove gaskets are a “rope” style and are a full 5/8 inch diameter, a much heavier material than this “tape”. The two styles in most cases would not be interchangeable.
